BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/ bcr-2016-216354 DESCRIPTION Mucoceles are the most common lesions of the minor salivary glands that occur mostly in the lower lip, probably due to the higher incidence of mechanical trauma in this region. A 9-year-old boy visited the department with symptoms of swelling on the lower lip since 15 days. The habit of nail biting was confirmed by the parents leading to notched maxillary incisors. Irritation from these notched incisors caused the swelling on the lower lip. On clinical examination the lesion appeared as a single, raised, circumscribed vesicle which was firm in consistency measuring 4 mm in diameter (figure 1) and there was no associated pus discharge or sinus. Considering the history and clinical findings a differential diagnosis of irritation fibroma or mucocele was noted. The notched incisors were restored with composite material to avoid further trauma (figure 2). Diode lasers have been used in paediatric dentistry

Introduction: In periodontal pockets, the exposed root surfaces are contaminated with an accumulation of plaque and calculus. Usually, in the initial phase of periodontal therapy, debridement of the diseased root surface is non surgically. However, complete removal of plaque and calculus is not always achieved with only the use of conventional mechanical therapy. The outcome of other studies sh...
متن کاملAdjunctive Low-level Laser Therapy Using 980-nm Diode Laser after Impacted Mandibular Third Molar Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Background and Objective: Extraction of impacted lower third molars is one of the most frequent surgeries of the oral cavity. This operation might be accompanied by inevitable complications, such as pain, swelling, and trismus after surgery. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of low-intensity/power laser therapy on swelling and trismus after impacted mandibular third mo...

Introduction: Mucogingival surgery is performed to correct defects in the morphology, position, and/or amount of gingiva. Such post-operative complications as bleeding, swelling, and pain have often been documented after mucogingival surgery and are associated with discomfort after surgery. The low-intensity laser has been used to promote analgesia. Low level laser therapy (LLLT) not only accel...

متن کاملEvaluation of Photodynamic Therapy with 660 nm Diode Laser and Different Concentrations of Methylene Blue on Candida Albicans growth on Denture(laboratory study)
Background and Aim: Candida has an important role in denture-dependent stomatitis. The use of lasers and light-absorbing materials to act against this fungus has been suggested in some studies. In this study, the antifungal effects of 660 nm diode laser with different concentrations of methylene blue as a light absorbing agent against Candida albicans grown on dentures was investigated. Materia...
